Corey Feldman responds to exclusion from Oscars tribute for Rob Reiner

Corey Feldman, known for his role in Rob Reiner’s 1986 film ‘Stand By Me’, has publicly stated that he was not invited to participate in the Oscars’ In Memoriam segment dedicated to Reiner. The tribute, scheduled for the 2026 ceremony, will include actors from Reiner’s films such as Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan from ‘When Harry Met Sally’, as well as Feldman’s former co-stars Jerry O’Connell and Will Wheaton. Feldman, 54, suggested on social media that his omission might be linked to his openness about the abuse he suffered as a child, though he emphasised that the tribute is not about him but a celebration of Reiner’s life and work. He urged supporters to refrain from petitions requesting his inclusion, stating that his co-stars will represent the film admirably, and he will honour Reiner privately. Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner tragically died from stab wounds in their Los Angeles home in December 2025, with their son charged with the murders. Feldman expressed shock at Reiner’s passing and reflected on the significant impact Reiner had on him during the filming of ‘Stand By Me’, praising the director’s compassion and guidance. The Academy has not commented on Feldman’s claims.
