‘Sinners’ Leads Strong Box Office Weekend as ‘The Accountant 2’ and ‘Revenge of the Sith’ Perform Well
The last weekend of April 2025 turned into an unexpected success at the box office, with Warner Bros’ ‘Sinners’ dominating for a second consecutive weekend, grossing over $42 million. Amazon MGM’s ‘The Accountant 2’ had a strong debut with $25 million, slightly surpassing its predecessor. Meanwhile, Disney’s re-release of ‘Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith’ drew significant interest, estimated to reach $21M-$23M, making it the best Star Wars re-release in the Disney era. ‘Sinners’ proved especially resilient, recording one of the best second weekends for an R-rated horror film, with its audience broadening demographically. ‘The Accountant 2’ attracted an older male audience, while ‘Sith’ reengaged younger Star Wars fans. Overall, the box office grossed over $139M, marking a high for an April post-Covid. Warner Bros’ ‘Minecraft’ movie also continued to perform well, earning another $20M. Although Sony’s horror movie ‘Until Dawn’ struggled comparatively, the overall mood was optimistic as moviegoing saw a clear revival.
