Peaky Blinders to continue with a new generation set in post-war Birmingham

Peaky Blinders will return to television continuing the saga with a focus on a new generation of the Shelby family after World War Two. Although the sixth series aired in 2022 was promoted as the end of the main story, producers confirmed the narrative will continue through other forms. A film titled The Immortal Man, set at the start of the war, will feature Cillian Murphy reprising his role as Tommy Shelby. Following the film, two new TV seasons will explore Birmingham’s post-war reconstruction in 1953, portraying the fierce competition over the city’s rebuilding projects with the Shelby family at the center. The show will air on the BBC in the UK and Netflix internationally. Murphy will also serve as an executive producer. The series originally began in 2013 and has depicted the Shelby gang’s exploits across the 1920s and 30s, winning the Best Drama award at the 2018 TV Baftas. The new installments promise to blend historical context with intense family drama and urban transformation.
