Kevin Feige Talks About the Delays and Challenges Behind the ‘Blade’ Movie

Despite many setbacks, Kevin Feige reassures that Mahershala Ali is still attached to play the iconic vampire hunter in Marvel’s ‘Blade’ movie. The project, which has experienced significant delays since its 2019 announcement, has faced multiple challenges including changes in directors and script iterations. Feige clarified that the delays were due to Marvel’s push for higher quality content following Disney’s push for more output, a shift that led to an over-expansion of the studio’s production pipeline. He emphasized that they didn’t want to rush the film and simply dress Ali in a leather outfit to start slaying vampires. Feige further explained that the story had to be unique and wouldn’t be rushed through production without the right vision. Ali himself remains enthusiastic, stating he’s ready whenever the project gets back on track. Marvel’s careful approach now focuses on modern-day settings for the film, after considering several different takes, including period pieces. Despite ongoing issues, Feige and Ali are committed to delivering a well-crafted ‘Blade’ film that lives up to expectations.
