Netflix has unveiled the first images from its upcoming thriller ‘Apex’, starring Welsh actor Taron Egerton alongside Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron. Directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the film is set in the rugged wilderness of Australia, featuring intense survival sequences and psychological tension. Egerton portrays a serial killer locked in a deadly pursuit of Theron’s thrill-seeking character, creating a high-stakes game of cat and mouse in the remote outback. Scheduled for release on 24 April 2026, the film was shot in scenic locations across New South Wales, including Sydney and the Blue Mountains, in early 2025.

This marks Egerton’s second collaboration with Netflix, following his appearance in the 2024 holiday action movie ‘Carry-On’. Also joining the cast is Australian actor Eric Bana, known for his portrayal of the Hulk in the 2003 Marvel adaptation. Kormákur praised the experience of filming in Australia’s challenging natural environments with such a talented ensemble cast. Egerton, originally from Birkenhead but raised in Aberystwyth, has gained international recognition for his roles in ‘Rocketman’ and the ‘Kingsman’ franchise, earning both a Golden Globe and a Grammy nomination. Meanwhile, Theron, who won an Academy Award for her role in ‘Monster’, continues to balance blockbuster performances with complex, character-driven projects. ‘Apex’ promises a gripping mix of psychological suspense, action, and survival drama against a visually striking backdrop.
