Marvel Studios Reacts to Superman’s $400M Global Box Office Success

After Superman’s latest film grossed an impressive $400 million globally, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is under pressure to respond to the growing success of DC’s superhero. Feige, however, dismisses concerns about superhero fatigue, stating that the notion is unsubstantiated. Despite acknowledging the over-expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in recent years, Feige highlights some of the successes, such as WandaVision and Loki, while pointing out that the sheer volume of films and TV series may have diluted their impact. Marvel’s shift to creating fewer, higher-quality projects is already underway, with some years featuring only one movie or series. Additionally, budgets for these productions are being slashed by up to a third in comparison to previous years. Feige also touches on why the box office performance of Thunderbolts fell short, noting that Marvel’s complex interconnected universe can make the viewing experience feel more like homework, leading audiences to skip certain projects.
