Disney/Pixar Releases New Trailer for Toy Story 5 Featuring Returning and New Characters
Disney and Pixar have released the first trailer for the upcoming film Toy Story 5, continuing the beloved animated franchise that began in 1995. The trailer showcases the return of iconic characters such as Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, Hamm, Forky, and Slinky Dog. A new character, Lilypad, a frog-like tablet, is introduced as a disruptive force in the life of the toys’ owner, Bonnie. The storyline hints at a potential reunion between Buzz and Woody following Woody’s decision to leave the group in Toy Story 4 to help abandoned toys. The trailer features humorous interactions among the toys, including bickering reminiscent of earlier films. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks reprise their roles as Buzz and Woody, while Joan Cusack returns as Jessie. Several new voices join the cast, including Greta Lee as Lilypad, Conan O’Brien as Smarty Pants, Craig Robinson as Atlas, and Ernie Hudson as Combat Carl. The film’s tagline, ‘Times may change but friends are forever,’ reflects both the evolution of toy technology and enduring friendships. Toy Story 5 also includes music by Randy Newman and continues the franchise’s legacy of pioneering computer-animated filmmaking. The film is scheduled for release in cinemas on June 19, 2026, continuing a series that has grossed over £3 billion worldwide and received multiple Academy Awards.
