DC Film Team Celebrates Box Office Success with BMW Gifts, Excluding Female Lead Wamiqa Gabbi

The Tamil film ‘DC’, directed by Arun Matheswaran and starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, has achieved significant box office success, surpassing Rs 100 crore worldwide. However, Wamiqa Gabbi and Sanjana Krishnamoorthy, the film’s female leads, were notably excluded from the celebration, sparking disappointment among fans. Sun Pictures shared a video of the BMW gift ceremony on Thursday, September 10, 2026, in which Kalanithi Maran presented the keys to the three male recipients. The production house’s caption highlighted the celebration of the film’s success, but the absence of the female leads in the video and the announcement drew criticism. Fans questioned the lack of gender equality in the recognition, with some commenting, ‘This is Kollywood; we don’t respect women here.’ The film’s unique approach to the Devdas story, where the protagonist and Chandra take on corrupt police officers after innocent people are killed, has been a key factor in its positive reception. Despite the box office success, the exclusion of female leads from the celebration has become a point of contention, reflecting broader issues of gender representation in the Tamil film industry.
