Cornet Mamabolo Returns to Acting as Peter Mokaba in New Film

Cornet Mamabolo is making a notable return to the acting world after stepping away from his role as Tbose on SABC 1’s popular series, Skeem Saam, in 2021 to concentrate on business ventures. He reunites with director Tebogo Malope to portray the influential anti-apartheid activist Peter Mokaba in the upcoming film, ‘Studying Under the Barrel of a Gun’, which explores the student resistance and political activism at the University of Limpopo during the 1980s. Cornet describes the story as inspiring, particularly after engaging with individuals who lived through the events, emphasising the responsibility and excitement of representing such a significant figure. In addition to acting, Cornet takes on the role of executive producer for the first time, highlighting his involvement behind the scenes and the challenges of self-funding a project of this scale. The film also introduces new talent from Limpopo, including King Monada, and features comedian Mashabela Galane, who brings comedic elements to balance the emotional depth of the story.
