Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey unveils new trailer with star-studded cast
Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film, The Odyssey, has released a fresh trailer, giving audiences a glimpse of his latest epic take on the classic tale. The film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the King of Ithaca, who spends ten years trying to return home after the Trojan War, with his family – wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) – waiting. During his prolonged absence, a power struggle emerges in Ithaca, with ambitious suitor Antinous (Robert Pattinson) vying for both Penelope’s hand and the throne. The trailer highlights key story moments and character interactions, including Odysseus’s encounters across the Mediterranean with characters like Calypso (Charlize Theron). The ensemble cast also features Himesh Patel, John Leguizamo, Lupita Nyong’o, Benny Safdie, Jon Bernthal, Zendaya, Mia Goth, Will Yun Lee, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Corey Hawkins, Jovan Adepo, and James Remar, many of whom have previously collaborated with Nolan. Filmed across Greece, Italy, Morocco, Iceland, and Scotland in 2025, the movie was shot on IMAX film with cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema. With a production budget of US$250 million, The Odyssey is set to premiere in cinemas on 16 July 2026, promising another ambitious project from the renowned filmmaker.
