Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘The Girlfriend’ Crosses Rs 6.8 Crore in Box Office Collections

Rashmika Mandanna’s romantic drama ‘The Girlfriend’ has been a strong contender at the box office, grossing Rs 6.8 crore over its opening weekend. The film, directed by Rahul Ravindran, explores the complexities of love and autonomy in a relationship that gradually turns toxic. Mandanna portrays the role of Bhooma, a woman struggling with love and control, while Dheekshith Shetty plays her boyfriend Vikram, whose controlling nature eventually turns destructive. The movie’s Telugu version led the charge, contributing most of the box office numbers, with Sunday’s performance showing significant occupancy rates in the afternoon and evening shows. Despite mixed reviews for Mandanna’s previous Bollywood outing in ‘Thamma’ and a lukewarm reception for her collaboration with Salman Khan in ‘Sikandar,’ ‘The Girlfriend’ seems to be gaining traction in cinemas. The film earned Rs 3.8 crore in the first two days and is on track to reach the Rs 10 crore mark if it maintains its pace. Early estimates suggest a Rs 3 crore collection on its third day. While the film faces stiff competition in the coming weeks, its steady performance indicates a promising run.
