The Devil Wears Prada Sequel: Cast, Plot, and Release Information
The Devil Wears Prada, the 2006 fashion industry classic, is getting a long-awaited sequel. The original movie, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, gained a cult following over the years. In the upcoming sequel, Meryl Streep will reprise her iconic role as Miranda Priestly, with Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt returning as Andrea Sachs and Emily Charlton, respectively. Stanley Tucci will also return as Nigel. New cast member Kenneth Branagh will play Miranda’s husband. However, Adrian Grenier, who played Andrea’s boyfriend Nate, will not return. While the sequel will likely take inspiration from Lauren Weisberger’s 2013 novel *Revenge Wears Prada*, which focuses on Andrea’s life as a successful magazine editor, the film will include new story elements. The plot is expected to center around Miranda navigating the decline of traditional magazine publishing, while also pursuing advertising deals with her former assistant Emily, now a high-powered executive at a luxury brand. David Frankel will return as director, with Aline Brosh McKenna writing the screenplay. The sequel is set for release on May 1, 2026, just before the Met Gala, adding a perfect touch of fashion timing.
