‘Superman’ Sets Fandango’s Top First-Day Advance Ticket Sales for 2025 via Amazon Prime
The upcoming ‘Superman’ film directed by James Gunn is already showing strong box office potential, as Amazon Prime Early Access screenings have become Fandango’s top first-day advance ticket seller for 2025. These early tickets, exclusively available to Amazon Prime members through Fandango and not offered for free, outpaced the sales of other major releases this year, including Disney/Marvel’s ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’. The exclusive screenings are scheduled for July 8 at 7 p.m. local time, three days ahead of the movie’s general release in theaters and IMAX.
Interest in the film is high, according to Fandango’s 2025 Moviegoing Trends & Insight Study, which surveyed over 5,000 people. In a separate poll of over 9,000 respondents, Nicholas Hoult’s portrayal of Lex Luthor was ranked among the most anticipated performances of the year. Speculation is building around a possible $100 million+ opening weekend for ‘Superman’, although tracking firms like The Quorum have yet to release predictions. For comparison, Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman v Superman’ opened with $166M in 2016, while ‘Man of Steel’ debuted with $116.6M in 2013.
So far, the biggest 2025 opening weekend belongs to ‘Minecraft’ with $162.7M, while the top comic book film opening is ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ at $88.8M. The all-time R-rated comic book debut remains 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ at $211.4M.
