Netflix series ‘Hello Bachhon’ showcases the journey of Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey

Netflix has released ‘Hello Bachhon’, a five-episode Hindi series portraying the story of Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey, who began with a humble YouTube channel and built it into a successful edutech company. The show follows Alakh’s struggles to maintain his ideals while growing his business and keeping education affordable. Viineet Kumar Siingh plays Alakh, portraying him as a sincere and student-first mentor who simplifies complex concepts for his followers. The series touches upon various challenges such as inter-generational conflicts, the competitive edutech environment, and the personal dilemmas faced by students in India, including pressures from coaching classes and entrance exams. While the series provides glimpses into social issues like the poor state of formal education and the aspirations of students from different backgrounds, it primarily functions as a promotional vehicle for Physics Wallah. The show highlights Alakh’s human connection with students, aiming to differentiate his approach from AI-driven education. Directed by Prathish Mehta and written by Abhishek Yadav, the series has moments of emotional resonance but falls short of a deeper exploration of the edutech industry’s impact on Indian education. Overall, it is more of a brand-building narrative than a critical examination of education.
