SNL Cast Lineup for Season 51 Finalized: Key Returns and Departures

Saturday Night Live is gearing up for its 51st season, with a major cast shake-up now finalized. The show will see several returning faces, including Michael Che, Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, and others. However, some familiar cast members have exited, with Heidi Gardner, Michael Longfellow, Devon Walker, and Emil Wakim leaving the show. The new lineup will also introduce several newcomers, including Ben Marshall, Tommy Brennan, Jeremy Culhane, Kam Patterson, and Veronika Slowikowska. Notably, Michael Che, who often hinted at leaving, will return to his role at Weekend Update alongside Colin Jost. The reshuffling comes after a successful 50th anniversary season for SNL, which won numerous awards, including 11 Creative Arts Emmys. Despite some departures, the show is set to enter its new season with a larger cast than Season 50. SNL Season 51 will premiere on October 4, 2025, with high expectations following its milestone 50th year. The casting changes signal a shift towards both new blood and familiar favorites, which may keep long-time viewers engaged as the show evolves.
