Original Animatronic Eyes From ‘Jaws’ to Be Auctioned in Los Angeles

Fifty years after the release of the iconic film ‘Jaws,’ the original animatronic eyes from one of the three full-size robotic sharks, known as Bruce, are set to be auctioned. These bug-eyed animatronic eyes, still attached to their original armature, have been confirmed via behind-the-scenes photographic evidence to be authentic pieces from the 1975 classic. Special effects legend Robert A. Mattey gave these eyes to his neighbor in 1980 after they witnessed the shark’s construction in his garage, and remarkably, the eyes remain in excellent condition decades later. Valued between $50,000 and $100,000, these rare memorabilia will be available at Propstore’s L.A. Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, scheduled for September 4 to 6. Fans and collectors alike are expected to compete fiercely for this notable piece of cinematic history.
