Starz Greenlights ‘Power: Origins’ Prequel Focused on Ghost and Tommy

Starz has officially greenlit ‘Power: Origins,’ a prequel to the ‘Power’ universe that will focus on the origin stories of iconic characters Ghost (James St. Patrick) and Tommy Egan. The 18-episode first season is set to follow the lives of these fan-favorite characters, although casting for the new younger versions of Ghost and Tommy is still to be announced. MeKai Curtis, known for his role as young Kanan Stark in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan,’ will reprise his role. The new series will serve as a direct sequel to ‘Raising Kanan,’ in the timeline. The showrunner of ‘Raising Kanan,’ Sascha Penn, will also helm ‘Power: Origins,’ bringing with him his expertise in the Power universe. The series is highly anticipated by fans who have been curious about Ghost and Tommy’s pasts for years. This marks another major expansion in the ‘Power’ franchise, following the success of the spin-off series such as ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ and ‘Power Book IV: Force.’ The show will dive deep into the formative moments of these characters’ lives that led them to become the figures fans know. The production will be executive produced by Courtney A. Kemp, 50 Cent, and other key collaborators from the original series.
