Sam Mendes to Direct Four Interconnected Beatles Films Starring Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan
Director Sam Mendes has announced an ambitious project consisting of four interconnected films about The Beatles, each focusing on the perspective of a different band member. The films will be released in April 2028. The cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison. The project marks the first time The Beatles, along with the families of John Lennon and George Harrison, have granted full music and life rights for a scripted film. The cast was revealed at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, where the actors appeared together on stage in a Beatles-style bow. Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman described the simultaneous release of all four films as a groundbreaking ‘bingeable theatrical experience’. Mendes, known for films like ‘American Beauty’ and ‘1917’, expressed excitement about exploring new angles on The Beatles’ well-documented rise to fame. The films are expected to dominate cultural discussions upon release, promising a fresh take on one of music history’s most legendary bands.
