Nollywood in Hollywood 2026 highlights women directors and global cinema exchange

The seventh edition of Nollywood in Hollywood waka come to an end this 2026 after two days of screenings, red carpet events, and lively discussions. The showcase, wey dey organised in partnership with American Cinematheque, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and O2A Media, bring together filmmakers, industry professionals, and fans to celebrate Nigerian cinema and its global reach. Dis year, three films directed by women dey highlighted during Women’s History Month, showing the increasing impact of women in Nollywood. The opening night feature film, ‘Stitches’ by British-Ghanaian filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso, draw plenty attention, with actress Dakore Egbuson-Akande attending and joining post-screening discussions. Other films wey show dey include ‘When Nigeria Happens’ directed by Ema Edosio-Deelen and ‘To Adaego With Love’ by Nwamaka Chikezie. Despite some visa wahala for filmmakers, organisers still hail the edition as one of the best, announcing plans to support diaspora filmmakers and build stronger ties between Nollywood and Hollywood. The event attract guests like Los Angeles City Councilmember Curren D. Price Jr., festival founders, African community leaders, and culture enthusiasts. Nollywood in Hollywood dey continue its mission to promote African storytelling worldwide and connect filmmakers, industry leaders, and audiences through screenings and collaborations in Los Angeles.
