Emotional statements from Perry’s mother Suzanne, stepfather Keith Morrison, father John, and stepmother Debbie were submitted to the US District Court for Central California ahead of Plasencia’s sentencing. Plasencia, 44, has pleaded guilty to illegally providing large amounts of ketamine to Perry, who was found dead in his hot tub in October 2023. The medical examiner determined ketamine, along with other factors, caused Perry to lose consciousness and drown. Perry’s parents described the doctor’s actions as a betrayal of his medical vows, stating that he repeatedly exploited their son’s vulnerability for financial gain. Prosecutors are recommending a three-year prison sentence, while the defense emphasizes Plasencia’s remorse, loss of his medical license, and the argument that prison is unnecessary. Other individuals connected to the case, including another doctor, Perry’s assistant, a dealer, and an associate, have also accepted plea deals and are awaiting sentencing. Perry’s family expressed their ongoing grief, highlighting the profound impact on themselves and fans who continue to leave tributes at his grave.
