At 95, Mamie Van Doren, one of Hollywood’s iconic blonde bombshells alongside Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, has released a new memoir titled ‘You Thought I Was Dead: My Life of Celebrities, Sex, and Champagne.’ Van Doren, born Joan Lucille Olander, used TikTok to introduce herself to a younger audience and discuss her experiences in Hollywood during the Golden Age. In her book, she recounts her rise from a farm girl in South Dakota to a starlet under contract at Universal Studios, sharing stories that go beyond the usual Hollywood scandals.
