Lindsay Lohan Plans to Expand Acting Career Beyond Netflix Holiday Films

Lindsay Lohan experienced a significant resurgence in her acting career through three successful holiday romantic comedies produced by Netflix: ‘Falling for Christmas’ (2022), ‘Irish Wish’ (2024), and ‘Our Little Secret’ (2024). Each film achieved notable streaming success, with ‘Our Little Secret’ drawing 32.4 million views in its opening weekend. Despite this success, Lohan shared in an interview with Elle magazine that she does not intend to continue making similar Netflix movies indefinitely. She expressed a desire to explore new creative directions and projects beyond the holiday rom-com genre that brought her renewed popularity. Looking ahead, Lohan will return to theaters with the upcoming release of ‘Freakier Friday,’ the sequel to the 2003 hit ‘Freaky Friday,’ co-starring original cast member Jamie Lee Curtis. The film, set to premiere on August 8 via Disney, is described by Lohan as a feel-good, fun, and fresh movie experience. Additionally, Lohan is venturing into television by starring in and executive producing the Hulu series ‘Count My Lies,’ based on a novel, marking her potential first lead role in a TV series if it is greenlit. While expanding her career beyond Netflix films, Lohan has not abandoned streaming altogether, continuing to pursue diverse projects across different platforms.
