Netflix Confirms Sequel for Hit Animated Film ‘KPop Demon Hunters’

Netflix has officially approved a sequel to ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ the animated film that became the platform’s most-watched movie ever. The first movie, released in June 2025, follows a girl group named Huntr/X, consisting of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who protect their fans from supernatural threats while performing music. It earned over 325 million views in its first 91 days and has been recognized with a Critics’ Choice award, a Golden Globe, and nominations for two Oscars, including Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for its title track, ‘Golden.’ The sequel will be the first project under co-directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans’ new multi-year exclusive deal with Netflix. While details of the storyline are not yet revealed, the original movie saw Huntr/X face off against the Saja Boys, a rival boy band secretly disguised as demons. The returning cast includes Ken Jeong, Daniel Dae Kim, and the singing voices of Huntr/X: Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Both directors expressed excitement about continuing the story, exploring the characters’ growth, and further blending music, animation, and narrative. A release date for the sequel has not been announced.
