Karen Gillan Cast as Lead in ‘Highlander’ Reboot Alongside Henry Cavill

Scottish actress Karen Gillan, known for her role in ‘Doctor Who’ and her portrayal of Nebula in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, has confirmed her role in the upcoming ‘Highlander’ reboot. The 37-year-old, originally from Inverness, will play the wife of Connor McLeod, a character portrayed by Henry Cavill. This reboot of the cult 1986 film will explore the enduring legacy of immortal warriors. Gillan, who had previously expressed a desire to work more in Scotland, will be filming the project in her home country starting this September. The actress shared her excitement on Instagram, humorously noting that her dialect coach will be sitting out, given her Scottish roots. In addition to her new role, Gillan recently starred in ‘The Life of Chuck’, a movie based on a novella by Stephen King, where she plays a nurse in a life-affirming story. Despite the challenges of being a new mother, Gillan is committed to balancing her career with family life. She also expressed interest in directing a horror film or doing a live theatre show in the future, with a special longing to reunite with her ‘Doctor Who’ co-stars Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill.
