Josh Greenstein joins Paramount leadership after Skydance acquisition

Josh Greenstein, formerly president of Sony Motion Picture Group, has been appointed to join Paramount following its acquisition by Skydance. Although his exact title is not yet confirmed, sources indicate his role will extend beyond motion pictures. He will be part of the new leadership team, which includes Cindy Holland, former Netflix TV chief overseeing streaming strategy, and Dana Goldberg, Skydance’s chief creative officer. George Cheeks will remain as co-CEO of Paramount Global and CEO of CBS, while David Ellison, Skydance’s CEO, will become chairman and CEO of Paramount after orchestrating the deal. The $8 billion Skydance-Paramount merger was recently approved by the FCC after months of waiting, finalizing with a $16 million settlement related to a lawsuit against CBS. This transition is happening amidst significant executive changes, with Brian Robbins and Chris McCarthy expected to leave Paramount. Greenstein’s previous experience at Sony includes marketing major franchises such as ‘Spider-Man’ and ‘Jumanji,’ along with high-profile films like ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ and ‘Uncharted.’ His return to Paramount marks a significant executive shift as the company aims to strengthen its position amid fierce competition in the entertainment industry.
