Jeremy Strong Discusses His Role as Mark Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Reckoning’ and the Film’s Focus on Facebook Whistleblower Frances Haugen

Jeremy Strong will portray Mark Zuckerberg in ‘The Social Reckoning,’ Aaron Sorkin’s follow-up to the 2010 film ‘The Social Network,’ where Jesse Eisenberg originally played the Facebook CEO. Scheduled for release in October 2026, the new film centers on Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer played by Mikey Madison, who collaborates with Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, portrayed by Jeremy Allen White, to expose Facebook’s internal controversies. Strong, known for his role in ‘Succession,’ emphasized that his portrayal of Zuckerberg is independent from Eisenberg’s previous interpretation, stating that it ‘has nothing to do with what I’m going to do.’ At a recent Academy Museum Gala, Strong highlighted the depth of the character and praised Sorkin’s script as one of the most compelling he has read, noting its relevance to current societal issues. This project marks Strong’s third collaboration with Sorkin, following ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’ and ‘Molly’s Game.’ Set 17 years after the events of the first film, ‘The Social Reckoning’ will present an older version of Zuckerberg while exploring Facebook’s ethical and corporate challenges through the lens of contemporary events.
