Drew McIntyre Joins Highlander Reboot as Angus MacLeod, Henry Cavill’s Brother

Scottish WWE star Drew McIntyre has been cast as Angus MacLeod in the upcoming ‘Highlander’ reboot, where he will play the brother of Henry Cavill’s character. Directed by Chad Stahelski of ‘John Wick’ fame, the film also stars Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, and Dave Bautista. McIntyre, known for his wrestling career, made his acting debut in the 2024 film ‘The Killer’s Game’. In the reboot, Cavill will portray an immortal sword master, living for over 500 years and trained in various martial arts. The ‘Highlander’ franchise revolves around immortal warriors engaged in a centuries-old battle, where the only way to die is by beheading. While the original ‘Highlander’ featured James Cosmo as Angus MacLeod, Cavill’s character will have a brother in this reboot, offering new dynamics and possibilities. The film is set to explore both past and present-day storylines, incorporating locations like New York and Hong Kong. Stahelski has hinted that the reboot could launch a new franchise, with room for more stories. However, production has been delayed due to Cavill’s recent leg injury, pushing the film’s release to 2026.
