Gene Hackman’s Estate: Uncertainty Over Inheritance

The will of legendary actor Gene Hackman has been revealed, showing that he left his entire $80 million estate to his wife, Betsy Arakawa. However, since Arakawa passed away seven days before Hackman, legal experts suggest that his three children—Christopher, Elizabeth, and Leslie—may still inherit the estate under state laws. Hackman’s children, from his previous marriage to Faye Maltese, were not named in his will, which was last updated in 2005. Authorities determined that Arakawa died from complications related to hantavirus, while Hackman died of heart disease with advanced Alzheimer’s as a contributing factor. The couple’s deaths have raised questions about the validity of the will, as Hackman’s children would need to prove that Arakawa’s earlier death invalidates the will for them to claim the estate. Despite the uncertainty, Hackman’s children have not publicly commented on the matter.
