Rakesh Bedi Reflects on His Career and Newfound Recognition Through ‘Dhurandhar’

Rakesh Bedi, veteran actor of Indian cinema, television, and theatre, has received renewed attention following the success of Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar’ movies. Known for his memorable catchphrase “Baccha hai tu mera,” Bedi plays the politician Jameel Jamali in the film, earning admiration from a fresh audience. Born in Delhi and trained at FTII Pune, Bedi began with notable films like Chashme Buddoor and Ek Duuje Ke Liye but mainly took supporting roles in later years. He continued performing in television, including popular serials such as Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, Yes Boss, and Shriman Shrimati, and remained active in theatre, notably with one-man plays like Massage and productions with the Indian People’s Theatre Association. Bedi emphasises patience, discipline, and persistence, believing good work eventually gains recognition.
