Actor Eric Dane, known for Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, dies at 53 from ALS

Eric Dane, the actor renowned for his roles in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Euphoria,’ has passed away at the age of 53 due to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Dane publicly revealed his ALS diagnosis last year and actively promoted awareness about the condition. According to his representatives, he spent his final days surrounded by close friends, his wife Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia. They described him as determined to make a difference for others affected by ALS and emphasized that he would be ‘lovingly remembered’ and ‘deeply missed.’ Eric Dane starred in the ABC medical drama ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ from 2006 to 2012 and returned briefly in 2021. He also gained acclaim for his role in HBO’s ‘Euphoria,’ and appeared in other productions including ‘Saved By The Bell,’ ‘Gideon’s Crossing,’ ‘Marley & Me,’ and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand.’ ALS is a type of motor neurone disease that leads to progressive muscle weakness, affecting mobility and daily activities, and currently has no cure, with treatment focusing on symptom management.
