A costume worn by actor Will Ferrell in the 2003 Christmas film ‘Elf’ sold for over £239,000 at a Propstore auction in London. The outfit, instantly recognizable as the green and yellow suit of Buddy the Elf, was originally expected to sell for up to £200,000 but exceeded that estimate due to its cultural significance and limited availability. The costume came directly from the collection of the film’s producer Jon Berg, adding to its authenticity and collector appeal. According to Propstore, only a handful of such costumes were made for the movie, making this piece one of the rarest items of modern Christmas cinema memorabilia.

The auction also included other iconic film props. A fedora from ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ fetched £327,600, while an original blaster prop used by Boba Fett in ‘Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back’ was projected to bring in between £350,000 and £700,000. The event spanned several days and featured items from a wide range of films and TV shows, reflecting the strong collector demand for screen-used memorabilia. The successful sale of the Elf costume underscores the enduring popularity of both the movie and Will Ferrell’s character, especially during the holiday season.
