Legendary In Talks For Global Distribution Deal With Paramount

Paramount, under the leadership of David Ellison, is negotiating a major deal with Legendary for a global theatrical distribution partnership, excluding China. The deal, which has been in development since spring 2025, will include a streaming window and potential co-financing based on individual projects. The deal could significantly increase Paramount’s annual film output, with plans to release 15 films per year initially, and possibly up to 20 in the future. Legendary currently has no exclusive theatrical deal with any major studio, though its franchises like Monsterverse and Dune remain with Warner Bros. However, this new agreement with Paramount could pave the way for new releases and more collaborations between the two companies. While Legendary’s past performance with Warner Bros saw both successes and failures at the box office, it remains a significant player in Hollywood, especially with upcoming projects such as the Ryan Reynolds-Jason Momoa animated film ‘Animal Friends’ and the high-grossing ‘Minecraft’ movie. Despite this potential partnership with Paramount, Legendary will continue its collaborations with Warner Bros on some ongoing projects.
