Darth Vader’s iconic lightsaber to be auctioned for millions after London display

A legendary prop from the Star Wars films, Darth Vader’s lightsaber, has gone on display in London ahead of its upcoming auction. The lightsaber, featured in pivotal moments of *The Empire Strikes Back* (1980) and *Return of the Jedi* (1983), is expected to sell for up to £2.2 million. The artifact is part of an auction organized by Propstore, which will also feature over 1,000 lots of film memorabilia, including costumes and props. The auction is set to take place in Los Angeles from September 4 to 6. The 32cm (1ft) prop was originally a 1950s camera flash bulb attachment before being transformed into a lightsaber by the production team. Other notable items in the auction include Spider-Man’s suit worn by Tobey Maguire, Michael Keaton’s Batsuit, and Harrison Ford’s iconic whip from *Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade*. Props from *Harry Potter* and *Jaws* are also being sold. Propstore’s COO, Brandon Alinger, described the collection as a rare opportunity to own a piece of cinematic history.
