Wolfgang Puck reveals 2026 Oscars Governors Ball menu and addresses Hollywood’s weight-loss trends
Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, who has catered the Governors Ball – the official afterparty for the Academy Awards – for the 32nd consecutive year, shared details of the 2026 menu with the Daily Mail. The lavish spread includes staples such as chicken pot pie, Oscar-shaped chocolates, and caviar, alongside new offerings like a large sushi station with fresh nigiri prepared by Japanese chefs, ‘In-N-Out style’ dry-aged ribeye sliders, tomahawk steaks sliced to order, spicy fish and chips with jalapeño, cannolis, and dark chocolate eclairs. Puck emphasised that the team prepares the same generous quantities of food regardless of Hollywood’s growing use of GLP-1 medications like Ozempic for appetite suppression, stating that they do not reduce portions and instead donate leftovers to those in need on Skid Row to avoid waste. His son Byron noted a possible shift towards more sharing among guests rather than individual large plates. Puck also discussed his Oscar predictions, favouring Paul Thomas Anderson’s film One Battle After Another or Sinners for Best Picture, with Anderson likely to win Best Director and uncertainty around others like Timothée Chalamet. He expressed enthusiasm for cooking for stars such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn, highlighting personalised dishes based on past preferences. The event features premium drinks including Domaine Clarence Dillon wines, Don Julio tequila cocktails, Dassai sake, and Piper Heidsieck champagne, with floral arrangements by Saco Sarkissian. Puck joked about potentially adding an ‘Ozempic station’ next year amid ongoing weight-loss trends in the industry.
