Winners of the 2025 British Independent Film Awards Announced

The 2025 British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) ceremony, held in London at the Roundhouse on November 30, highlighted a range of outstanding talent in the UK independent film industry. Among the top winners was *Pillion*, which secured the best film award along with four other prizes, including best costume design and make-up. The film, directed by Harry Lighton, tells a biker romance story starring Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgard. Other major winners included *The Ballad of Wallis Island*, which earned awards for best screenplay and joint lead performances by Tom Basden and Tim Key. *I Swear* won Robert Aramayo the best lead performance award for his portrayal of a Tourette’s campaigner. *My Father’s Shadow* director Akinola Davies Jr. took home the best director award, while *Wasteman* director Cal McMau was named best debut director. Additionally, the documentary *A Want In Her* won three BIFAs, and *Sentimental Value*, directed by Joachim Trier, claimed the best international independent film award. Other recognitions included Emily Watson receiving the outstanding contribution to British film prize and Warp Films, known for *This Is England* and *Dead Man’s Shoes*, receiving the BIFA special jury prize for their raw storytelling.
