British Council Starts Film Lab Africa 2 to Train Young Nigerian Filmmakers and Writers

The British Council don start the second edition of Film Lab Africa for Nigeria, a programme wey go support young filmmakers, writers, and episodic storytellers across the country. This programme dey run in partnership with EbonyLife Creative Academy for Naija and Iconic Steps for UK. Film Lab Africa wey first start for 2023 don already help emerging filmmakers with training wey combine online and face-to-face sessions, plus mentorship from both Nigerian and UK industry professionals. The first cohort get over 600 people wey apply, 60 people make am, and dem showcase the funded films for different film festivals and to industry stakeholders. For this new edition, dem wan focus more on writers and episodic content including TV pilot development, while still dey give professional training, mentorship, and production grants. Film Lab Africa 2 go take young creatives aged 18–35 through structured training, script development, pilot production funding, and showcase events wey fit connect them to investors and distributors. The programme go dey accessible to creatives for all 36 states, with special support for persons with disabilities.
