The Wire actor Bobby J Brown dies aged 62 following accidental barn fire

Actor Bobby J Brown has died at the age of 62 following a barn fire in which he suffered fatal injuries. Brown, who was best known for portraying Officer Bobby Brown in the acclaimed HBO drama The Wire, was reportedly attempting to jump-start a vehicle inside a barn when the blaze broke out. According to reports, he was overcome by smoke during the incident.

Brown’s daughter told TMZ that her father succumbed to smoke inhalation on Wednesday and suggested that his death was not primarily caused by the burns he sustained. The Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that the cause of death was diffuse thermal injury and smoke inhalation, ruling the incident an accident.

Family members said Brown had contacted a relative to request a fire extinguisher shortly after the fire ignited. However, by the time assistance arrived, the barn was already fully engulfed in flames. In addition to his role on The Wire, Brown appeared in television series including Law & Order: SVU and We Own This City.

His daughter also shared that he was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and that funeral arrangements are currently being organised. Fans paid tribute on social media, praising his performances and expressing condolences to his family.

Brown’s death comes months after fellow The Wire actor James Ransone died in Los Angeles. Brown is remembered for his contributions to television drama and for the impact his performances had on audiences.
