Unsealed court documents reveal Blake Lively’s critical texts about Justin Baldoni in ongoing It Ends With Us lawsuit

Newly unsealed court documents in Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, her co-star and director in the 2024 film It Ends With Us, include text messages from 2023 where Lively referred to Baldoni as a ‘doofus director,’ ‘clown,’ and ‘rabid pig.’ The filings, released ahead of a summary judgment hearing, show Lively venting frustrations about Baldoni’s behavior during filming and the press tour, including allegations of sexual and emotional harassment. Lively’s team argues the messages lack full context, pointing to later exchanges where she mentioned benefits from her connections to Taylor Swift and Ryan Reynolds. Texts also include Swift commenting on Baldoni playing the victim with a ‘tiny violin.’ Other documents feature complaints from co-star Jenny Slate about misconduct by Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath, and Plank describing a difficult set experience. Baldoni expressed concerns in his messages that Lively might use allegations as leverage. Lively sued Baldoni in December 2024 for sexual harassment and a smear campaign, which he denies. His $400 million countersuit was dismissed in June 2025. The trial is scheduled for May 2026, with neither party commenting to the BBC.
