Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle Lawsuits Related to ‘It Ends With Us’ Dispute

Actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement that ends their long-running legal dispute tied to the 2024 film “It Ends With Us.” The agreement was confirmed through a joint statement from their attorneys, who expressed hope that the resolution would allow everyone involved to move forward constructively and maintain a respectful environment. Both sides also emphasized pride in the film and its intended impact, particularly in raising awareness about domestic violence.

The conflict began after the film’s release, when Lively, who also served as a producer, filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni, the film’s director, of sexual harassment. Her complaint included allegations that Baldoni made inappropriate sexual comments, discussed his alleged pornography addiction, and engaged in behavior that made her and others uncomfortable on set. She also claimed that Baldoni participated in a coordinated effort to damage her reputation. According to her filing, a meeting took place in which Baldoni agreed to stop the alleged behavior, avoid adding explicit content to the script, and refrain from showing nude images to her.

In response, Baldoni filed a countersuit accusing Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, of defamation, extortion, and invasion of privacy. However, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s claims, as well as his separate libel case against The New York Times. The court also dismissed most of Lively’s claims, although some—such as breach of contract and retaliation—were initially set to proceed to trial before the settlement was reached.

The legal battle attracted widespread media attention and involved references to other celebrities, including Taylor Swift, whose private messages with Lively surfaced in court documents. The dispute also coincided with public criticism of Lively’s promotional approach to the film, which deals with domestic violence.

With the settlement now finalized, both parties appear to be closing a contentious chapter tied to the film’s production and aftermath.
