Hollywood actor Gerard Butler shared his deep appreciation for Northern Ireland, describing Belfast as his ‘adopted home’ during the filming of the live-action remake of ‘How to Train Your Dragon.’ Butler, who plays the Viking leader Stoick, revealed that various locations in Northern Ireland, including Belfast, Dunseverick Castle, and Tollymore Forest, served as the fictional isle of Berk. The production took place in early 2024, utilizing local studios and crews, and is set to premiere on 9 June. Butler emphasized the high quality of the sets and the dedication of the Northern Irish crew, adding that the region’s people made him feel truly welcomed. The actor also recalled humorous and chaotic encounters with fans in local pubs. Butler expressed strong support for filming the sequel in the same locations, stating he couldn’t imagine it being done anywhere else. His co-stars, including Nick Frost, Mason Thames, and Nico Parker, echoed his enthusiasm for returning to Northern Ireland, praising its beauty, history, and local hospitality. Despite freezing conditions and a bout of food poisoning among the crew, the cast remains fond of the filming experience in Northern Ireland.
