HBO Confirms Third Season of ‘And Just Like That…’ Will Be the Final Season

HBO has announced that the third season of ‘And Just Like That…’, the reboot of the popular ‘Sex and the City’ series, will be its last. Showrunner Michael Patrick King revealed on Instagram that while writing the final episode, he felt it was the right moment to conclude the series. The show follows Carrie Bradshaw and her friends navigating life and love in their 50s in New York City. Although a two-part finale is still to air, the cast and crew delayed announcing the series end to avoid overshadowing viewers’ enjoyment of the season. Actress Sarah-Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie, shared a tribute marking this chapter’s conclusion, while co-star Kristin Davis expressed sadness over the ending. The show, based on Candace Bushnell’s books and the original series and films, will not continue with any further spin-offs, according to King. Viewership has steadily declined since the first season, dropping from 1.1 million US households to less than half for recent episodes. The reboot faced criticism for its handling of diversity and some plot inconsistencies, such as confusion around a character’s father’s death. The character Che Diaz, widely disliked by critics, was replaced in the final season. Fans have expressed mixed emotions about the show’s end, with some wishing it had continued longer.
