British Talent Shines as Golden Globe Nominations Announced for ‘Adolescence’ and Other Productions

The Golden Globes have revealed their 2026 nominations, bringing strong recognition to British talent across film and television. The drama series *Adolescence*, featuring Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper, Ashley Walters, and Erin Doherty, earned five nominations following its success at the Emmys. The Netflix limited series, which follows the fallout after the murder of a teenage girl, was one of the most discussed shows of the year and narrowly missed topping the TV category, just behind HBO’s *White Lotus*.

Among film nominees, *One Battle After Another* led the field with nine nominations, followed by Norwegian comedy-drama *Sentimental Value* with eight and vampire horror *Sinners* with seven. In acting categories, Cynthia Erivo was recognized for her performance in *Wicked For Good*, while Gary Oldman, Helen Mirren, and Aimee Lou Wood secured nominations for *Slow Horses*, *Mobland*, and *The White Lotus*, respectively. Emily Blunt received an unexpected nod for her portrayal in *The Smashing Machine*, alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who was also nominated. Tessa Thompson joined the list for *Hedda*, a modern reinterpretation of Ibsen’s classic play.

Irish actors Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley received nominations for *Hamnet*, the forthcoming adaptation of Maggie O’Farrell’s novel inspired by Shakespeare and his wife Agnes. This year also marks the introduction of a new Golden Globes category dedicated to podcasts, featuring popular shows such as *Good Hang With Amy Poehler*, *Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard*, and *Call Her Daddy*. The 83rd ceremony, hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, will take place in Los Angeles on 11 January 2026, signaling the ongoing revival of the Globes after past controversies over diversity and transparency.
