Shannen Doherty (April 12, 1971 – July 13, 2024) began her acting career as a child in the early 1980s, quickly becoming a recognizable talent in television and film. At age 10, she made her debut on the TV series Father Murphy, produced by Michael Landon. By 11, she was cast as Jenny Wilder on the final season of Little House on the Prairie, appearing in 18 episodes, and also voiced the character Teresa Brisby in the animated film The Secret of NIMH. Doherty made guest appearances on popular shows like Voyagers!, Magnum, P.I., and later 21 Jump Street. In 1985, she starred in the teen comedy Girls Just Want to Have Fun alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt. Between 1986 and 1988, she played Kris Witherspoon on the NBC family drama Our House, earning Young Artist Award nominations for her performance. By the late 1980s, Doherty transitioned to edgier roles, most notably portraying the scheming Heather Duke in the cult film Heathers (1988–1989) with Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. During her early years, she was known for a wholesome, girl-next-door style, while her teenage years reflected the fashion trends of the era, including shoulder pads, big hair, and preppy outfits.
